Banking Scam Prevention & Banking Fraud Tips
- Use strong passwords (don’t use the same password across multiple sites).
- Install updates on your phone, tablet or computer when they become available.
- Ensure there is a lock icon in the browser’s status bar, or the address begins with https:// (the “s” stands for “secure”) prior to entering your username or password on any website.
- Download our mobile banking app from Google Play or Apple App Store only.
- Install malware protection and set it to automatically update on the device you use to access financial sites, including our online banking website.
- Monitor your account. If you notice anything unusual contact us immediately.
- When finished with your online banking session, whether on the mobile app on your phone or web app on your computer, be sure to log off and close the browser.
Identity Theft
If you suspect you’re a victim of identity theft, the Federal Trade Commission provides steps for you to take to recover your identity. Please see https://www.identitytheft.gov for more information.
As a reminder, Bank of Bird-in-Hand will never contact you by telephone, email, text message or any other communication method and ask for your account information, one time passcode, social security number, online banking username and password or any other confidential information. If you do receive a request for information, purportedly from Bank of Bird-in-Hand, please contact us immediately.
